Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts Postcards
These postcards come in a five pack and were printed locally at the Red Sun Press on Green Street. These cards are printed on a 100#, 30% recycled paper and are 5x7" (so you'll have plenty of writing room). The featured illustration on these postcards is part of my Jamaica Plain Homes series, which is also available as fine art prints.
How your purchase impacts our community and environment:
Apart from supporting our neighbors in Boston and reducing environmental impact from the shipping and transportation of the product, here are some reasons I chose to print these cards through Red Sun Press:
- They are a union shop, which means workers participate in negotiating wages, benefits and workplace health and safety policies. As a cooperatively-run business, their workers have an equal vote on the governing body of the company as well.
- Some ways they reduce their environmental impact are: they have a long-standing record of using vegetable-based inks in their printing, have been recycling their own waste paper since 1988, and donating usable waste paper to local schools and daycare centers.
- Lastly, they are a truly community-based business with a portfolio of impactful promotional work. They are a resource and an amplifier for local activists, non-profits and grassroots organizations.
